Are Brother ink cartridges LC5-7 and LC5-1 interchangeable?
I am not sure if the brother branded LC-51 will work as an LC-57, however almost all compatible LC-51's on the market will fit in both. If you have an LC51 with ink in it kicking around, pop it in an see what happens. You will not harm yourp rinter by doing so, however I would hate for your to purchase the brother branded and find it will not work. If all else fails, go with a good quality compatible cartridge.
