Are Brother printers any good? Are their individual ink tanks better than other printers that have only one set of tanks?Brother is a well-known brand, but Canon seems to be the better choice in this case. It's nice to have individual ink cartridges because you don't have to throw away the ink that is the the other tanks if you have one cartridge with all the colors in it. I don't buy the all-colors-in-one-cartridge printers because it's just extra cost when most of the colors still have lots of ink left. The printer doesn't necessarily stop working when one tank is empty. It just lets you know and keeps printing. You can certainly still print black with a color tank empty. I like have a single function machine. It bothers me to have to replace a multi-function machine when only one function goes bad.
