I'm using an Epson CX4600 which I started using again after letting it gather dust for a few years. I replaced the ink and tried to print something out, but all that came out were a few faint pink lines. I can't even print with black ink. Well, given the fact that the printer hasn't been used in a while, and the expiry date of my 'new' ink cartridges was on Aug. 2007 (been sitting on the shelf too), I know it's either of these two things that's causing the problem. I just want to be assured that there's nothing mechanically wrong with this printer. What do you guys think? P.S. I already tried the all the Maintenance Functions (cleaning, aligning, etc.) several times to no avail. Please tell me that it's just the ink or dust! With Epson printers, the part that puts ink to paper is not the cartridge. You could spend thousands on cartridges and it won't work. Epson cartridges are just tanks. Because it sat for years, the printhead (located in the printer) has dried out. Time to invest in a new machine, it's not worth the effort to unplug it.
