I am trying to dowload the driver for my Dell printer. But when I tried the printer, it would not print and I get the message saying, 'Printer can not communicate with the computer.' I also tried unplugging the printer and turned it off, but the problem still prevails. Can you help me figure out the problem?
Answer these questions and it may help troublshoot the problem. When you installed the printer, did you remember to install the driver before you connected the printer? After installation and connecting the printer, did you restart? Is it connected through USB? If so, did you 'safely remove' the previous device before connecting the printer? ('Safely remove' is something like shutdown for USB ports. If you do not follow this procedure, the computer will not recognize the next device.) If you answered yes to the first three questions and no to the last question, then your problem can easily be fixed by simply safely removing the USB device. Your computer should be able to recognize your printer the next time you plug it in.
