I have a Canon i560 printer and it used to print really nice photos on photo paper. About a year ago the blue ink would not work and we started just using the printer without it. Recently, I soaked the printer head in rubbing alcohol and cleaned the clogged pores. All colors print, but there seems to be a bluish-grey shade on top of every picture and I don't know how to get rid of it. The photos don't look as real anymore. Thanks for the help.
First never use alcohol to get an ink cartridge to work as it will dry the ink out very quickly, warm water is way better for this as most inks are water soluable! 2nd You probably have a build-up of ink on the ink cartridge carriage which is most likely causing streaks or a blurring of the pictures. The best way to clear that issue is to remove the ink cartridges, power off the printer, then power it back up but remove the power cable from the printer when the carriage is free of its 'HOME' that way the entire carriage can be moved by hand manually. Next, take a damp not drenched (with water) paper towel and fold it in half and place it directly under where the carriage prints.. Now manually run the carriage over the towel and any excess built up ink will be removed. Now, you can return the printer back to normal operation with power, ink and paper.
