I have a new laptop (Acer 4730) and a new printer (Lexmark 2600). The problem is when I try to do a test print or any other type of printing or scanning, it says the printer will not communicate with the computer. The box for the printer says it is compatible with Vista. What is the problem?
Follow this procedure. Un-install the printer form the control panel under 'Add remove'. Remove the USB cable from the printer only. Power the printer on. Do a fresh install and re-connect the USB cable to the printer only when the programs ask you to do it -- not before. Let it finish the installation and reboot the computer. Windows will tell you it has found a new hardware.
