I have an Epson Stylus Photo 830 printer, but it does not print properly. I still have the same problem even after replacing the ink cartridge with a new one.
Since most cartridges have a new 'print head' included(which is why they are so expensive), it would appear to be a maintenance problem with the connections between the cartridge and the carriage it rides in, or somewhere further inside. You can carefully clean the carriage connections with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to let it dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge. If this doesn't solve the problem, you can either replace the printer or have it tested and serviced.
