I have an Epson Stylus printer but when I put in a new cartridge the paper would not print out. Instead, the red color light would go on. However, the printer continues to print even when I am out of a color. I tried to trouble-shoot and I would always get the message: WINDOWS CAN'T CONNECT TO PRINTER or PRINTER LOST CONNECTION TO SERVER. Is this related to the the hard drive and not related to the printer at all? How can I fix this?
Sounds like you may have multiple problems going on. I suggest you first boot in safe mode, and un-install everything that has to do with the printer. When this is done, re-boot your computer, and then download the newest drivers for your printer. If it is a USB printer, do not connect the printer until you install the drivers, or unless it asks you to do so. You might also want to look at another possiblity. Since you mentioned that you can not connect to the server, you might want to check if your printer is supposed to be connected to a network.
