I have changed the ink cartridges in my Brother MFC-310 as specified in the instructions. I have also verified that they are correctly placed on the slot. the printer is still telling me that there are no cartridges.
it could be the ink censer in the printer or it could be a faulty cart. It's also possible that you put in the wrong ink cartridge type.
