I have replaced my black cartridges successfully but my HP printer software says that my printer is missing my black printhead.
One thing common to all HP deskjets when they reject print cartridges is to make sure the contacts in the back of the holder which make contact with cartridge contacts are clean and free of any dirt. You can turn printer off and with a damp lint free cloth dampened in plain water, clean the contacts usually on a metal copper colored strip in the carriage assembly with the cartridge removed. Let it dry and then put in the new cartridge and see if it works.
