I just got a Dell 1710n printer and when i plug it, the computer simply does not recognize it as if nothing was even plugged. How can I fix it?
You should unplug the printer. Then run the install CD that came with it. Then plug the printer back in. Make sure that it is turned on and your system should find it. If that doesn't work go to Control Panel, Add New Hardware and choose the autodetect plug and play, and it should be found. If that still does not work, then there is a good chance that the USB cable is bad. Try replacing that.
