I lost the disk to my HP Photosmart C3100 series, so I downloaded the software/program from their website. My dilemma is that while I can print, I can't scan anything. What do I do?

I lost the disk to my HP Photosmart C3100 series, so I downloaded the software/program from their website. My dilemma is that while I can print, I can't scan anything. What do I do?
Install the scanner (from scanners and faxes)and let Microsoft check the Internet fot drivers. The HP website has the latest drivers for your printer model.
