I replaced the magenta ink in my Epson printer yesterday (it's a genuine Epson ink cartridge), and ever since then my printer is refusing to print in colour. It prints everything out in black and white. I've made sure the printing settings isn't set to black ink only and I've cleaned the heads. I'm not sure what else to do.Do a nozzle check pattern first. If the nozzle check pattern is missing any lines, then you need to perform a head cleaning (especially if you were out of ink for any length of time). If you are not getting any colors through, it seems odd that it would have anything to do with your magenta ink cartridge. If you get this fixed, for future knowledge here is some information about the Epson printers. 1. The reason you can not print if you are out of one color, until it is replaced, is a safety feature for your printer (to avoid problems such as this). There is an ink reservior in the printhead and if you do not replace/use ink, the ink in the reservior dries up and clogs the printhead. Now you are forced to perform a printhead cleaning and this uses a lot of ink. If you find that you are not printing atleast 1-2 times per week, go to your printer and perform a nozzle check. This will push ink through each printhead, so they do not dry up. This only uses a small amount of ink and can save you a lot of money in the long run.
