I used a printer for my old PC with port LPT1 and it worked great and easy install. now with my new laptop I have to use the USB port. I have the USB to printer cable; the laptop recognizes it as a printer being plugged in to the USB port, but I am having a tough time printing from the laptop. I have tried using the same driver disk that came with the printer I used on my pc and it wont work. I also tried using the add printer function and still no avail. I have been selecting port USB001. The printer is set to default, it says 'ready' and is in the online mode. I have never printed from a USB port on anything before. The printer is a Minolta '1250W' laser printer.
Your best bet is to go online and look for a new printer driver. They are broken down by model and OS. Be sure to pick the highest rated one you can find. Also you should check the description to see if it says USB or not.
