Is it okay to clean the circuit board looking thing on the printer ink tank with alcohol? My printer won't bring up the ink its a new cartridge. It's a Canon Color BJC 4400
With that printer you printer has no idea whether or not you have installed a new cartridge. The cartridge is a small grey ink tank with no electronics whatsoever that clips into a larger print head. I am assuming you are wanting to clean the electronics on the print head, don't, anytime you introduce a liquid to an electronic component you run the risk of shorting it out. The can be accomplished even by way of the static you naturally have built up. The print head costs about $80 to replace. Go through your Canon Toolbox, there is a utility that allows you to run through the new cartridge installation procedure, this should align and install the new cartridge If you are using the black only BC-20 it may not be registering due to an electronic error, or malfunction, as opposed to messing around with the cartridge attempt to exchange it if the installation procedure fails to rectify the problem
