My Dell 720 inkjet printer can't recognize my newly refilled black ink cartridge, but can recognize the newly refilled color cartridge. Why is this?
See if there is ink on the electrical contacts (not the holes where the ink comes out) on the cartridge or maybe in the printer where the cartridge sits. Just wipe it off with a dry lint-free cloth. Also, if the ink ran out in the black cartridge, some printers will not let you install the same cartridge back in the printer. The printer logs the serial number of the cartridge and is looking for a new number. This is a scheme on the part of the manufacturer to get you to buy a new cartridge instead of refilling. You can ask your refiller to adjust a few settings for you.
