My HP printer stops working unexpectedly in Windows XP. By default, Window XP tries to disable USB when the HP DeskJet printer is not used to save power. This simply does not work under many circumstances. The HP DeskJet printer may fail to wake up when called. You would have to fix the OS Power Management Settings to avoid this hibernation problem.
