My printer has not worked since HP update. This is what I think caused it -- Allowed value 'HP Software Update' (new data deleted in System Startup global entry.
Type 'msconfig' from a command prompt, and disable anything from HP that starts up automatically. You don't need it. Open your printers and right click on the printer you are having problems with and delete. Restart without your printer connected. Once you are up and running, connect your printer. You will get the add hardware wizard. Let it run and you should be fine.
