My printer is a Canon Pixma MP210. I removed the ink cartridge for a couple of days while I went around trying to see if anyone could refill it. After I replaced the ink cartridge, it didn't work, so I read the directions. It says don't leave it dry or with out a cartridge as that may cause it to dry out or get gummed up. It only had a 90 day warranty on it, and Canon wants to charge me $10 to get on with tech support. Does anyone have any ideas on how to de-gunk the head on the ink cartridge? Get some rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Wet the Q-tip slightly and rub the print head with it. Do this 3 or 4 times with a clean Q-tip each time. Then run the 'clean print heads' option on your printer properties.
