My printer is an Epson CX7400. I had used the print head cleaning utility that came with my printer a few times because of low quality prints. It really does help. But this one time I did it the black ink failed to come out of the cartridge!!! There were a few random black lines here and there. At that time, only black wasn't working and all the colors were. I did the clean again (reverse phsycology) to see if black would work again, but now the colors don't work at all and the black leaves random marks here and there.

Replace both cartridges (color & black). If that does not work, purchase a new printer.
