We recently 'rescued' an Epson C44UX printer from the rubbish and although I don't need it, could give it to our local 'freecycle' site if it was still working. I have connected it up to my computer, it lights up and when I press print the cartridges do move up to the 'print' positon, but as there are no cartridges in it, obviously it doesn't print. I don't want to go to the expense of buying cartridges which are no use to me in my own printer if the Epson is US. Any ideas?
Printer sat with no cartridges in it? It is now a gigantic paperweight. Even new cartridges will most likely not solve the problem. The printhead in the machine is most likely totally plugged up with residual ink. Could possibly be unplugged, but that would take a lot of time and effort and oodles of ink. Epson printers found in the rubbish, are best left there.
