When one of the cartridges in my Brother DCP 115c is empty, it doesn't print. Can I do changes to the settings so it can print with only the available colors?
No you cannot, CYMK colour shading and mixing is very complicated, you do need all your colours present. All newer model printers use a light black ink to allow for photo printing. The trade off is that this ink isn't dark enough to create a crisp text print. Your printer will be using all three colours to darken and sharpen your black. To answer your question, there is no way to trick the printer into working with an empty cartridge, nor is there any way to override that empty cartridge warning short of replacing the empty cartridge.
