Why is my Canon Pixma MP510 printer not recognized? The printer was registered as offline, and it says that the USB port is not recognized. Could it have malfunctioned?
Try another USB cable. If you have tried the printer on 2 other computers and it does not detect so that you can install the drivers there may be a problem with the cable. Most common problem: Your cord hangs down where kids and/or pets play with it and the cord gets pulled so that one of the connectors goes bad. If it still does not work at that point. Contact the printer's tech support so that you can set up an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) so that you can send it in for warranty work or possibly have them replace the printer.
