Why is my Epson Stylus CX5400 printing ink blots and blank pages? The printheads are clogged with dried ink! Manufactures warn against allowing ink cartridges to empty or from removing them for any period of time (even 20 minutes), so as to prevent the ink from drying in the printheads. Even just disconnecting the power supply for any extended period can cause this! The solution is to use a printhead cleaner to clean the heads. You add the cleaner to the ink cartridges and flush the heads several X's. Sometimes this will work with just the ink as the Ink's composition includes a small amount of this cleaner fluid. Using the cleaner fluid however is most often required! Most printer's heads are not located in the cartridges so hydrating them will not often solve the problem. Printhead cleaner is mostly available from suppliers of ink 'refill kits'. 'Printer Filling Station', (www.printerfillingstation.com), is a good one! Might as well go for the 'refill kit' also! It's about 80% cheaper! Good luck!
