computer basics how is printer speed measured
A common question when buying a printer is 'how fast does it print'? But how is printer speed measured, and how can we begin to provide an answer to that question?  Printer speed is usually measured in one of three ways, with the general rule being the quicker the print, the greater the cost.  Characters per second is the first way in which speed can be measured, i.e. by calculating how many letters, number and spaces it can print in a second.  Next, lines per minute (or LPM) is a prevalent measurement of speed, calculating accordingly the number of lines printed each minute.  Alongside that, the third way in which printer speed can be measured is in pages per minute, or PPM.
