To scan images on to a HP Printer, place the desired item for scanning appropriately, and look for the HP Solution Center on your desktop.  Double click on the icon to open the programme, which will allow you to scan your item.  Locate the 'Scan Picture' option, and click.  Next click the 'Scan' option, and 'Accept' to scan the image.  From there, you can save the image to your desktop, or transfer it for use into some other application like an email or word processing document fairly easily using the options presented to you within the HP Solution Center software.
