the Epson CX8400 is on sale, think about a new printer, but I heard about that the Epson printer does not allow you print black./white if your color ink cartridges are empty. I don't print photo at all, thankfully. Is it worth it?

It does get a little testy when cartridges are empty. but generally it prints monochrome with no trouble at all.
